چکیده
This study aimed to investigate the relationships between different levels and degrees of incomplete spinal cord injury (iSCI) evaluated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results non-invasive electromyography (mcsEMG), motor-evoked potentials (MEP), electroneurography (ENG). With a focus on patients injuries at four levels, C3–C5, C6–Th1, Th3–Th6, Th7–L1, this research delved into intricate interplay circuits functional recovery. The uses MEP, EMG, ENG assessments unveil correlations MEP amplitudes MRI scores. We analysed data from 85 iSCI (American Spinal Injury Association—ASIA scale; ASIA C = 24, D 61). compared diagnostic neurophysiological test performed within 1–2 months after injury. A control group 80 healthy volunteers was examined establish reference values for clinical recordings. To assess structural integrity white grey matter transverse plane reconstructed sagittal readings, scoring system ranging 0 4 established. divided two halves (left right) according midline, each half further quadrants. Each quadrant assessed separately. EMG were used conduction in corticospinal tract contraction properties motor units key muscles: abductor pollicis brevis (APB), rectus abdominis (RA), femoris (RF), extensor digitorum muscles (EXT). also (ENG) peripheral nerve find out whether changes significantly affect patients’ scores their status. revealed consistent positive bilateral decrease transcranially-evoked amplitudes, highlighting complex relationship neural pathways outcomes. Positive are notably pronounced Th3–Th6 subgroups (mostly rs 0.5 above p < 0.05), while Th7–L1 presents distinct patterns (rs less than being statistically insignificant) potentially influenced by unique compensation mechanisms. significant cumulative mcsEMG These insights shed light multifaceted interactions damage, measures, function Further is warranted unravel mechanisms driving these implications enhancing recovery rehabilitation algorithms iSCI.

15 صفحه اولMotor control in patients with incomplete spinal cord injuries and various voluntary movement capabilities.
BACKGROUND In this study, we attempted to verify the hypothesis that further improvements in volitional movement of patients with a spinal cord injury would diminish and ultimately suppress the segmental responses, while enhancing the supraspinal inhibitory influence. METHODS Eleven patients with an incomplete spinal cord injury and partial preservation of motor function (ASIS grades C and D)...
متن کاملSpinal somatosensory evoked potentials in patients with tethered cord syndrome.
We studied the electrophysiological changes occurring in six patients with tethered cord syndrome. Evidence of spinal malformations was provided by magnetic resonance imaging. The functional assessment of the spinal cord was performed by analysing both spinal and cortical somatosensory evoked potentials. The evoked electrospinogram was recorded from the thoracic and lumbosacral spinous processe...
متن کاملFrequency of Phantom Pain among patients with Spinal Cord Injury
Summary: Background: Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) usually have permanent and often devastating neurologic deficits and disability and pain (1). According to the National Institutes of Health, "among neurological disorders, the cost to society of automotive SCI is exceeded only by the cost of mental retardation"(2). Neurogenic pain constitutes one of the enigmatic clinical sy...
